Lynx R Fairing Review CRF250L

okay this is the very long overdue links our fairing review video now I am very sorry but I do not have the footage of the installation of this I recorded it I put it on my computer and I cannot find it anywhere so that’s the reason I haven’t done the install video but if you’re thinking about getting one of these it’s very simple to install you know it you retain your factory gauge which is back up inside there it gives you a nice dashboard to put stuff on I’ll go over my modifications at the end of it I’m just gonna do this about what the kit comes with first and install instructions are great there’s pictures very easy to follow and the only thing I had trouble with during the install was cutting my fender now I ended up cutting it a little bit more than I needed to for clearance but I get I can get a wrench up in there and it it doesn’t really matter you don’t see it unless you’re right up on top of it and I point it out and it does fit this fender very very nicely so it looks like the bike should have come with it really the blinkers get relocated up higher now I went for the upgraded LEDs so they’re I think they’re quite a bit brighter than the factory ones I assume they are but it’s a very bright blue color and I do have to auxiliary lights Casey highlights brand that I was going to put on here but I decided against it because this is so bright and an option well it’s not an option of a feature I should say that I like is that both lights are on all the time until you go high beam and then it kicks that on from I think it’s like 15% to full you can disable that it’s in the instructions but I really like that the lighting is great and that’s that’s probably my favorite feature this whole thing that’s why I got it was the upgraded lighting the secondary reason I got this was because of the windshield here and the reason I like this windshield is because when it’s down I still get a breeze right into my helmet and the top of my chest and I’m just under six three and then when I put it all the way up my head is completely out of the wind it takes a lot of the buffeting wind off of my shoulders which helps reduce fatigue a lot and then when I’m riding I can just lean forward kind of tall but I can just lean forward loosen these move it and retighten them so it’s not really suggested that you do that but you know it’s I’m just saying it’s possible and I did notice because it shears a lot of wind off this way too there’s a lot less wind hitting me in the stomach in the chest just because it kind of pushes your off towards the side and then my hand guards grab a lot of it and throw it off too so it’s very good wind protection for me even it’s basically six foot three and the most important thing is that your helmet doesn’t get slammed around buffeted because a lot of aftermarket windshields and stuff I put on bikes like you know the Spitfire windshield you see on all this old Japanese stuff that would Buffett my helmet like crazy and I hated it this one does not do that one thing I haven’t addressed yet that’s kind of a concern is the front brake line now it’s hitting my psyche regards and this rubber piece here is getting kind of beat-up but what I’ve seen people do is do I guess they call it rally style break routing and I’m guessing they mean like Dakar Rally not Honda CRF 250r alley they just put a straight fitting on there instead of this angled one and then they take it down inside there and just kind of weave it around so I might end up doing that or I might end up doing just some kind of custom hose and maybe use this bolt here to clamp it so it’s not rubbing on but I mean it’s got this protector and everything but you know Robin slightly rubbing on the blinker here and rubbing on that bolt I’m not too happy with but the front brake line is super spongy anyway so that might be something else you might want to look at upgrading if you do this bearing but yeah that’s my only concern is that one spot over there for the brake line the only thing that has gone wrong with this and it’s probably my fault is these nuts here came off there’s this bracket that goes right underneath your lower triple clamp and then comes up there’s a screw from the back and there’s wizlocke nuts which are just a nut with a little flange on the bottom with some serrations that wizlocke nut came off on both sides and I probably rode that way for like a thousand miles didn’t even notice but you know the even with those missing this thing’s not going anywhere I probably should have put Loctite on there which is what I’m gonna do and I reinstall these nuts and if they fall off again I’ll probably do something I can safety wire but I’m guessing with Loctite it’ll be fine so that’s the only thing that’s gone wrong with this fairing you know the sticker kit is just my design it comes with a bunch of different stickers you can do it however you want you know this big red one it comes with uh I think a black and a white also and you know this white one’s a sticker and this black ones are sticker and this red one’s a sticker so you can just kind of layer it up and do it however you want that’s just how I did it you know your style may vary so yeah overall it’s great product no complaints about it at all absolutely love it and then now I’ll show you my little personal touches to it which this is one of the nice features of it too you can do your own little custom dashboard I have my GPS on a ram mount because I use it in the vehicle and other stuff so I like to be able to take it off but got a nice little dashboard area up here and I’ve got my radiator temperature and then I’ve got an hour meter and tach a voltmeter and then this under here is a waterproof SAE plug and then the switch next to it is I can go up for battery it’s my horrible drawing of a battery and this connects directly to the battery so if I need to put a battery 2006 gsxr 600 fairings tender on here flip the switch up to there goes right to the battery in the center is off so it’s not connected to anything and then down that’s a little symbol for contacts because I’ve got a master control relay that supplies power to my GPS and my gauges and this and you know any other accessories I might add in the future so here if I’m if I’ve got that down and I’ve got like my USB charger hooked up to this in my tank bag I’m out riding I have the GoPro batteries in there I shut the bike off it turns that off so whatever I’m charging doesn’t completely drain and kill the battery because you’d be surprised how quickly a GPS or a simple phone charger can actually drain the little battery on this bike so that’s my little personal touches the factory gauge isn’t really any harder to see the only reason it’s harder for me to see is because I’ve got rocks risers and a bar pad on but I usually go off at GPS speed anyway when I actually care to look so yeah there’s the links our fairing you know if you have any questions or want any specific information just ask below on the video and I will do my best to get back to you

Honda CTX700 DCT Fairing Reinstall (after removal)

so here’s what the CTX 700 looks like with the pole fairing removed if you’re gonna add any DC powered devices on here you do it right here it doesn’t take too long to remove it but if you don’t know what you’re doing you can break it connections and disconnections that you have to make are like the turn signals these have to be disconnected there and hmm where’s the other one nice no I can’t here it is here’s the other one for the right side and if you have the power supply in the top motorcycle fairings you have to disconnect that from your seven harness right there when you’re putting this back together make sure that this boot is inside here and I had the Honda shop one time do it and it was all inside the unit like that so just make sure it’s inside so that the outer edges are not sticking beyond here the inner sides are underneath the plastic then you line up these bolts here and line up this connection here making sure that all your wires and cables behind there are still straight this one right there so those are the first four bolts that we’ll put back on okay the side panels push straight on so they’re gonna go in here here here and then these notches up above and it’s just gonna push straight in that’s this panel right here as you’re lining up the side panel the pushing into place make sure that this is behind this red piece before you push it in and it’s probably easiest if you start with the big buttons that are at the bottom down here there’s three of them and

then once you get those in place just push everything into that side once you have your top panel on if you have the power supply and the little front here make sure you reconnect the power on that side panel pushed on you’re gonna need two of the metal screws and two of the larger rivets plastic rivets the two screws are going to go here and here and I’ll show you from the other side ninja 250r fairings the two plastic rivets are gonna go in here and here on both sides do not I repeat do not drop this screw or which screw this screw down into here it’s gonna make you cuss up a stool if you should be careless enough to drop the screw this one that goes in here down inside here you have to take the little side panel off again then you have to take this panel off the side actually before you take that pattern off the side you have to take this off the bottom and then it helps if you have this device it’s called a wet noodle it’s flexible and it’s got magnets at either end check out labor-saving devices com or LSD and this is one of the tools I used for work that way if it’s sitting way down inside there like this was sorry you just push that in grab it and pull it out the side piece requires you to pull this out right here to get it unstuck from one of these rubber grommets and then take out these two large screws that go in here here’s muffler shield back on you line up these points inside here with these points here from the front you slide it back into place and then line up that screw down front there ear and hearing you can go ahead and apply that the front now the front the first thing you’re going to do is you’re going to reconnect the turn signal and then it slides in from the front towards the back so it has all these catches that as you see that you slide backwards and you must do the left side first because

the left goes underneath the right the inside of the fairing you can see all those protrusions coming out there in there and there they’re gonna slide into these holes here here and I believe up here right there okay once you think you have its lid on make sure that this seam right here is on straight then you can pop these two right over the top here go around to here make sure everything’s straight here and then you’ll push the whole thing straight into the side all right once you have the Aryan popped into the side you’re going to need this screw right here which goes down through this washer this rubber washer down into here andr1 fairings then you’re going to need these little push rivets now don’t do these wrong like I did and break this one on the side what you do to get them out is instead of trying to push them backwards you take like a small allen wrench or something in real small diameter and push it straight in and it’ll pop through to the other side and loosen up and then once you get it out you can put it in this way and then pop it in flush I found these online like a hundred of them for I don’t know it was under ten bucks Honda wanted to charge five bucks apiece for these little tiny things so be careful with them even though I broke the tip this one will still work and it’s right down here so there and there that’s a screw and here’s the two little pop rivets so once you get the sides slid into place and you put the rivets down below you have to put these two screws in up front so next you’ll put the front on and there’s these four Clips there they’re there and they go into those two holes and those two holes and then one of those little popper that goes in here and here the last piece is to go on are these two pieces here you just got to get this seam right along here all aligned and make sure that this clip is in right there before you put the two school in here and up here and then you put one of those little pop rivets right in here you

2003 2004 CBR600RR yellow, black and silver fairings

everyone I just wanted to do a video review of some fairings that I got from China got him on eBay from this guy called blessings to zero one one or two zero zero one two thousand one two thousand eleven I’m not sure exactly what I’ll put it in the description at the bottom there’s the bike that I’m going to be working on it’s 2005 CBR 600 Double R and here’s the Box haven’t opened it or anything yet so we’re just going to open that up take a look see what’s inside see if everything’s as it should be and let me just pause this and we’ll get back with you okay just that Kenny okay it’s pretty decent adhesive the plastic stuff the underpinning stuff your fender okay thanks for the cow okay here’s part number one we’ll just open it up and just see what it looks like I’m not gonna do looks like it’s really well wrapped very well protected the it’s actually got looks like serial numbers and stuff but zxm t like the date is produced that progress tank guards looks pretty nice I got the white rips all I don’t look kind of cool thick bit of red are on there how much money was it oh yeah money this was three hundred and ninety some odd dollars right at four hundred bucks you know paint quality on it looks pretty good I really can’t complain about this this one piece.
I’m looking at looks nice crap in the paint right here but it’s white I mean you’re not gonna see it you won’t even show up on video but it’s just looks like there’s a piece of dirt that got and they probably painted outside I would suspect instead under cleaner really so okay I’m gonna start putting some pieces together okay,cbr500r fairings, I’ve kind of put on the low lying fruit so to speak the things I thought were easy to put on like the rear cowl and the gas tank cover pretty much went on without too much fanfare the gas tank cover kind of had to you know fits with it a little bit to get it to go on but it went on the little black filler panel down there trying to get the push tab into the bottom part of the gas tank was a little bit troublesome but anyhow it took me probably three or four minutes to get everything lined up no no big deal really I can’t bitch about anything really the paint quality still I think is really good for for them for the money it’s not obviously it’s not factory it is I mean you know if you’re looking for restoration quality concours quality this is not it but it’s really good I mean you really got to get at it just the right way to see the defects within it also this taillight the gap is pretty consistent there are there’s a little bit a little bit wider I think over on this side here versus right here but you know hey I’m really not complaining but at any rate that’s what I’ve got so far I’ll work on the on the headlight assembly and get back with you in just a few minutes on on that so far I’m probably a little slower than most you guys would be just probably take me mm two hours or better to do what I’ve done and a lot of that has to do with prepping the the pieces in other words pulling off the old rubber plugs and that kind of stuff from the other one old ones and putting them on the new ones and the heat shield there’s a couple of heat heat pads on the gas tank that are kind of in this area here and on this area here.
so I had to pull those off and and put them back on anyhow thanks okay get the front nose front cowl and the fender on everything lined up pretty well a little tiny not even really worth mentioning gap or unevenness in between the tip of the headlight but I mean I’m serious you can’t even mention it or can’t even see it one thing I would recommend to everybody that does this is mount or not mount but assemble the entire front cowl mirrors mounting bracket everything tachometer windscreen blah blah blah put everything together as one unit including the bracket and then put the bracket onto the bike because trying to do it the other way around is damn near impossible you got to put a good amount of pressure here on these mounts for the the mirrors get kind of haast those around to get them to to line up they did didn’t have to really do any drilling out of any holes so to speak I actually I did had to clean out this one here and the one on the other side the same spot just because there’s some excess plastic during the manufacturing process or paint or something so those little bolts wouldn’t fit down through it and if you’re doing this one on a Honda CBR.
I don’t know how the other bikes are but there’s a black trim piece underneath this piece up underneath here put that on first before you mount your headlights and into the upper cowl or you’ll there’s one screw that’s just impossible to get at if you already mount your headlights ,r6 fairings,so my bike was already wrecked so I didn’t have a chance to take it apart and look at it so I bought it our t-rex state but anyhow yeah it’s gonna suck so good so far I’ll put this side panels on and let you know that goes thanks okay just some final thoughts about the Chinese eBay fairings that I put on my bike overall I can’t say enough positive things about them everything went together fairly well I mean there’s a little bit of fidgeting and fussing over some of the bolts lining up but nothing I mean nothing major and you know I didn’t have the luxury of having original plastic on the bike because it had been wreck and it was just read it up so I don’t know exactly how well that stuff would have fit coming on and off but all in all everything went together well the only real fitment issues and I don’t know I haven’t even looked at any other CBR 600 of this vintage but this piece right here you can see the gap and once again I mean out you’re really splitting hairs that and it’s pretty much the same on the other side a little bit of a gap there a little bit of a gap here on the tail light right in whoops right there kind of as tightly as it goes over there and on the front it’s really kind of hard to see but you see how the headlight is sticking out a little right there a little further and it’s kind of recessed in and that could be just that I didn’t fidget with it enough to get it to fit in properly I don’t know but that seems to be the only issues I have some bugs on the front of I have ridden it a little bit paint quality like I said earlier not I mean not concours quality but pretty darn good ,fairingskitshop.com,I mean I think that painted it outside you’ll see some crap in the paint but and if you have a CBR of this vintage when you’re redoing your front nose piece make sure that this black piece right here this chin spoiler or whatever it is is under knee I don’t know what you call it that goes on first before you put everything else in together so make sure that goes in and leave your windshield off windscreen off before you try to mount everything else up on the headlight assembly also they they give you the windshield which is great I appreciate that they also include heat shield on the plastic the heat shield they didn’t give that they will not give you enough they give you enough for one piece and I mean or once one side fairing I should say so I bought some additional heat shielding it’s like 17 bucks for two square feet it was a 12 by 24 piece off eBay and this the plastic I bought like I said was about $400 it’s from a guy on eBay blessings 2011 I think was his or is his store name or eBay name whatever it is and it actually got here a little bit quicker than then expected also he did a also included yeah I’m sorry I don’t have it on but a white cowl that goes on the back and looks pretty slick but it was everything was packaged nicely and came in quickly and on time but overall I would highly recommend buying them buy these things I don’t know why anybody want to buy the Honda stuff to be quite honest with you I mean price-wise it’s just ridiculous but that’s my final thoughts if you have any questions you can comment and I’ll do my best to respond to you in a timely manner thanks again hope everybody enjoyed it
